Term classes
Terms run for 8 weeks and align with school terms. Term 1 2026 bookings will open mid December, with limited spots.

All levels welcome: Perfect for beginners with no previous experience. Experienced students receive a refresher and can progress at their own pace.

Class inclusions
Students are allocated their own Shimpo pottery wheel for the class duration. 6 students per class
White stoneware clay, pottery tools, and a wide range of stoneware glazes and underglazes
A firing allowance of up to 2.5kg. Additional firing over your allowance is charged at $18 per kg.
Your finished wheel-thrown creations will be ready to collect 4-5 weeks after the end of term.

What you will learn
Throw simple forms
Prepare clay for the wheel. Learn to throw
objects including cups, vases and bowls.
Trim ceramic objects
Refine wheel-thrown objects. Learn to remove excess clay and create appealing shapes.
Glaze your pieces
Apply colour and texture to your work. A range of stoneware glazes and underglazes.
Try the pottery wheel. Book a wheel taster
Try your hand at the pottery wheel before committing to a full term. In this two hour workshop, we introduce the basic techniques of wheel-throwing. Next taster classes will be Friday 27 February 2026.
